Whatever your motivation - whether you're training with your significant other, best friend or even a new workout buddy - exercising with a partner has many benefits beyond the obvious. At Mercedes Club, we offer Partner Personal Training and Partner Pilates sessions so you can reach new heights together.
It's easy to skip a workout on your own, but when someone else is counting on you, you’re not going to hit that snooze button. Partner workouts add accountability - just knowing someone is going to put in the work with you, is really powerful. If motivation slips, your partner is there to keep you motivated and on track with your fitness goals. And cheering each other on through tough sets builds camaraderie and drives you both to improve yourselves every workout.
Strengthen your connection through exercise. You build trust and communicate during a tough workout together. Whether it's coordinating movements in a training session or spotting each other on the bench press, partner workouts take teamwork, patience, and encouragement. Eventually, these common challenges lead to greater connection and achievement outside the gym.
Science supports it - partner workouts can actually improve your performance. Studies suggest exercising with a partner who is even just slightly fitter than you can increase effort and endurance. This is called the Kohler effect. You can also do a variety of exercises that involve two people - like resistance band pulls, partner planks or medicine ball passes - with a partner.
Working out alone may seem like a chore, but working out with a partner is social and playful - perfect for making fitness enjoyable. So laughing through a tough set, exchanging high-fives and words of encouragement, or competing in a friendly challenge can all help release stress. You’ll stick with it if you associate exercise with positive emotions and connection.
